Learning Objectives

By the end of this Module, learners are expected to:

  1. Understand what we mean when referring to deviant behavior and be able to distinguish It from various cultural norms
  2. Distinguish how deviant behavior is expressed by individuals or teams
  3. Analyze how power structures in basketball contribute to labeling certain behaviors as deviant
  4. Identify and interpret signs and patterns of GBV in basketball settings
  5. Identify potential GBV incidents that may occur among athletes and people in close relationships with them 
  6. Utilize critical thinking, coupled with self-reflection on personal biases to discern subtle and overt indicators of GBV
  7. Figure out ways to deal with people having deviant behaviors against others in the context of a sports team
